Here is what we know: it is crustless. Obviously. A crust would be a distraction and babushka did not do distractions. It is dense. Cold from the fridge. Made with proper quark — not ricotta, absolutely not ricotta, ricotta is not invited to this table and never will be. And on top: canned mandarins. With the syrup. The syrup stays. This is not up for discussion.

You serve it in a thick slice. You say "just a small piece". You give them half the cake. This is the way.
