my anti-inflammatory lifestyle

So lately I have changed my way of eating a bit in order to reduce inflammation. I have some massive dental work coming up and with an inflamed body things get difficult. I did not even plan on doing a temporary anti-inflammatory lifestyle. It just kind of happened.

And now you might wonder what that means for me?

Everyone has different approaches and this here is mine. Basically I wanna focus on eating a mainly pro-metabolic Ray Peat inspired diet which is what I have been doing anyways.

So for now I don't drink any alcohol - not even my favorite wine or the occasional Aperol Spritz because I believe alcohol is a major cause for inflammation. Not saying I will live the no-booze lifestyle forever but for now that is what I choose and what makes me feel well. And this will last for a couple of months until lots of dental work has gotten done.

Apart from that I prioritize early and deep sleep. Even if it is just 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep from 7 pm until 2 am, it does wonders for me.

And food-wise I now focus mainly on eating things I tolerate well: eggs, dairy, fish, seafood, some fruit and vegetables.

I am not super strict but lately I try limiting red meat, wheat and nightshades. Yes, I know grains can be super inflammatory as well - especially for us dealing with thyroid autoimmune disease but the thing is I love my spelt spaghetti drowned in tons of butter and parmigiano cheese and I feel and sleep extremely well after eating this. White rice I also tolerate extremely well. And yes, I also eat some homemade sourdough bread and cake made from spelt flour.

As I said, not going overboard with food restrictions and whatever makes me feel well even though in theory it might be inflammatory like grains, that stays with me.

There is science and then there is you as a human being reacting different to what science says maybe - or better to say here in my case it is me versus sciences and what works for me. Also not going into the science here since this gets boring quickly and yes I am a nutrition nerd but I won't start writing long articles about it because I do the nutrition nerding in order to feel better and not to teach other people about it. It is not my job.

I'm a marketer, designer, illustrator and writer - and a former coach and language trainer. That's my job. And yes, I also create fun posters and tote bags with my pro-metabolic nutrition approach. It's my lifestyle so I design what I live and preach.

Well, so far my anti-inflammatory lifestyle sits well with me. Better sleep, more clarity, more appetite and more energy. And more peace of mind. So I get basically everything I have been wanting to have my whole life just through no-booze and eating a certain way without feeling restricted at all.

What about you? Have you tried any anti-inflammatory lifestyle and how did it make you feel?
