what saying no really means

Who would've thought that the tiny word 'no' often is the hardest one to use whenever something just feels off.

It took me a long time to finally learn that saying no is not just good for my wellbeing, that it is my right to say no to whatever feels off and that saying no is actually really powerful.

Because whenever you say not to something that doesn't feel right, you actually say 'yes' to yourself and with that you don't overstep your own boundaries anymore.

In the past I had a calendar full of meetings and whenever people asked me if I had time, I'd squeeze them in somehow. Even though I clearly did not have the time. But since saying no was so hard for me, I did whatever I could do to please anyone and everyone.

And the disease to please is a bad one - because let's be honest. Many people are never pleased anyways, no matter what you do or what you don't do.

So instead maybe it's better to focus your own gut feelings and decline whatever doesn't work for you at all. Like my calendar that was way too packed and burned me out!

Now I invite you to think about what you can do today to say yes to yourself and no to whatever isn't working for you.

With love,

Phyllis
