how I am healing my jaw, my fascia, and my nervous system after a decade of stress

how I am healing my jaw, my fascia, and my nervous system after a decade of stress

A decade of stress resulted in extreme tooth grinding for me. So bad that I literally ground my teeth into total destruction. And with bruxism the best dental hygiene won't help you either...

So now I am doing the best to finally learn to rest and relax and to calm down. First of all I bought a Japanese futon mattress and sleeping directly on the floor does wonders for me already.

I came up with that idea because I traveled to Japan once many moons ago and I remembered how well I slept on those tatami mattresses directly on the floor. For some reason I never really liked regular beds anyways.

Another benefit is that cleaning the area around my futon is so much easier now.  I have to roll that thing up every day anyways and then I clean the area every day and no dirt can pile up. Double win for me!

And I got back to doing ballet at home with an amazing app and it does wonders for my wellbeing. Also it helps me to improve my posture and I believe it might also have correcting effects on my nightly tooth grinding. The Dance Masterclass is amazing and I truly love it. And it is even more fun since I bought a barre for my home and have my little designated ballet area at home!

Lately I read a lot about fascia release and how it also helps to reduce tension in the body, posture, facial structure and many other things.

This will be another thing I am adding to my healing protocol now. I have been following Oscar Patel on Instagram and I will join his Skool community for some time and see what his work does for me especially.

Thankfully I can already feel my nervous system calming down ever since I am sleeping on my futon directly on the floor and since I started a very anti-inflammatory eating protocol in order to lower the inflammation in my body to speed up my dental restoration.

That means to me that I am currently not drinking any alcohol, not eating nightshades and also no wheat. Basically I only eat right now what I know my body tolerates very well: dairy, fish and seafood, eggs, fruit and some non-cruciferous vegetables. A bit of meat.

And yes if I really crave my fave pizza and tiramisu I will indulge on it once a month or so even though it is with red meat (hello pepperoni salami and tomato sauce and wheat) and I believe that won't hinder my progress at all either.

I have another dentist appointment coming up this morning. In a way I always dread every new appointment but on the other hand I am also thankful because I know that my dental health is finally taken care of and getting restored.

Haha, I even turned my dental trauma into a whole product line for everyone else who has also been suffering from dentist phobia for a long time. I have realized it is not just me but also tons of other adults. If you suffer from bruxism as I do, then this one here is for you!

Love, Phyllis
